Garra Rufa Fish Pedicure
|
For hundreds of years Garra Rufa fish also known as Doctor Fish have been used widely as a skin treatment in Turkey and Asia. A member of the Carp family, these little fish gently but thoroughly remove hard dead skin from the feet (or any other part of the body) using their lips - they have no teeth. They only eat dead skin, healthy skin is left untouched. The sensation you feel as you immerse your feet into the warm water is a pleasant light tingling sensation as the 'Doctors' get to work. As they gently nibble away they excrete an enzyme which is believed to contain Dithranol which is know as skin softner and rejuvenator (used in psoriasis treatment) leaving the skin smooth and glowing. As well as the cosmetic benefits these little chiropodists also help skin conditions such a psoriasis and eczema and each treatment stimulates meridians and acupuncture points in the feet leaving you feeling pampered, relaxed and refreshed. This is a totally organic natural pedicure, suitable for men, women and children. It is completely safe and hygenic using the latest technology in filtration and sterilization. Before each session you are asked to cleanse your feet with a wipe before immersion into the tank.

The fish themselves are grazers by nature and are used to surviving in very harsh surroundings and have evolved by eating anything decaying on the river bed. There is no cruelty involved, in fact their living conditions are closely monitored to ensure these little workers are kept happy and content. 'Doctor' fish of the Carp family have provided a safe, hygenic, totally organic procedure in Turkey and Asia for hundreds of years
